I have always had a love for animals. When I was young, I was that little girl who brought home the stray, even when my father said no more! I started my career once my two boys began all-day school and now, twenty years later, I am still happily employed with Stuebner Airline Pet Resort & Spa as Groomer/Manager of the facility. I am very passionate about my work and I make sure to take special care with each pet I groom.
I had the great experience of showing my beautiful Bichon, Biscuit, who finished with her Championship at the age of two. That was a very exciting time for us! I had the privilege of having Biscuit in my life for almost sixteen years, everyday of which she came to work with me - and loved it! We miss here very much around here. I specialize in grooming Bichons, Yorkies, Labradoodles and Goldendoodles but I love grooming ALL breeds. I pay special attention to my scissor work, while I groom each breed to the AKC standard.
My love for animals doesn't end with dogs, as I also have two horses that I adore: my Paso Fino Mia and my Quarter Horse Paisley. So, on my days off you just might catch me on a trail ride! I reside in Cypress with my loving husband of twenty-nine years, Ken, our dog Dax, and, of course, my two horses. On the weekends, I love spending time with my wonderful family. I have two precious granddaughters of whom I just cannot get enough!
Everyday I wake up excited about going to work. I just LOVE my job and love pampering my clients' pets! I hope to spoil yours soon!
We always had poodles, my mother showed poodles, Labrador retrievers as well as other breeds. I partially grew up at dog shows and was lucky enough to be influenced and mentored by some of the best groomers and handlers in the business.
At nine years of age I was showing my first poodle “Cercie”. By thirteen I started riding and showing horses in western pleasure and halter. My Aunt Darlene gave me my first Labrador retriever at the age of fifteen, I was totally in love, and I named her “Jewel” (Champion T.V’s Jewel T). She would become one of the first yellow Labrador retriever champions in Texas. I had several champions through the years and served as secretary of the Houston Labrador Retriever Club and show secretary for our specialty show.
In 1982 I got married and opened my own Boarding and Grooming business in the Woodlands TX. I was very fortunate to have my mother work alongside of me in my new business for 10 years. My mother had a gift for grooming and passed this along to me. Three children and 10 years later I decided to close the shop and become a full time mom.
I kept a handful of clients that I have continued to board and groom all of these years. I also am a supporter of rescue, adopting all of my pets and donating time and resources to groups such as poodle rescue, private feline rescue and Habitat for Horses. As the children got older I returned to grooming full time. It’s definitely what I do best specializing in poodles and terriers. Forty years later I still enjoy what I do, the past Four years here at Stuebner Airline Pet Resort and Spa have been such a joy. I love working with people who share the same passion and love for what we do.
Chris has been 'in' dogs since 1966, training in obedience competitions flyball, agility and also showing in conformation. She has attained 14 AKC and UKC titles on her Shelties and English Cocker Spaniels.
She has been grooming since she started showing her dogs and also for a show/breeding kennel. She started grooming professionally in 1995 and she became an International Professional Groomers Assoc. Certified Master Groomer in 1997. She has also shown and placed in dog grooming competitions with her English Cocker Spaniels.
She moved to the Houston area from Chicago in 2013 and has worked at Stuebner Airline Pet Resort and Spa since May of that year.
I have been a hairstylist for people for 30 years and about 8 years ago decided to combine my passion for dogs with my love of hair styling and attended grooming school and then joined the team at Stuebner Airline Pet Resort & Spa. I work one day a week as a groomer and four days as a hairstylist. I am often asked which I like better. I answer, “Both have their benefits. People sit still but dogs don’t complain.” The dogs bring me such joy and I smile and laugh all day.
I have been married to my very talented artist and drummer husband, David, for 16 years. We enjoy road trips with our dogs to our vacation home in Ruidoso, NM. We don’t have children but have 5 rescue mixed breed dogs we consider to be our babies. We are partial to “mutts” because we appreciate their uniqueness. Two of them I use as therapy dogs with an animal-assisted therapy group called “Critter for Christ”. I find it very rewarding and have been visiting nursing homes and rehabilitation hospitals once a week for 15 years.
